Happy Thursday, everyone and welcome back to another TBT! This week’s entry is another classic sketch cover featuring our newest comic superhero-turned-movie star, Wonder Woman! This was one of my very first sketch covers, as well as one of my earliest attempts at using copic markers.
In honor of Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2 being released, this week’s TBT is my original Sanrio-inspired print, featuring the now-famous characters in their original comic book designs. Below is the black & white inked piece, followed by the full-color version, which was completed with Copic markers.
This week’s TBT is everyone’s favorite grouchy, red-skinned, gunslinging paranormal investigator/monster puncher Hellboy! It’s only a couple years old and one of my first attempts at a full-scale drawing colored in Copics. The streakiness is a little off-putting but I’m still fairly pleased with that fire. Might be time to pull out this gem and clean it up in time for Planet Comicon next week, where Hellboy himself, Mr. Ron Perlman will be in attendance!
Here is my most recent sketches of Hellboy, first pencilled and inked with Prismacolor.
Next I erased the pencil lines, and added shading with 100 Black Copic marker.
Finally, I colored him in and added the background, all with Copic marker.
Here’s a commission I did last week at Planet Comicon for my friend John. He’s a big Dune fan. Like crazy big. Also I misspelled “Harkonnen”. Oops.
